Le Chable - Day 1

Hit our first obstacle on the trip today. Our original plan was to cover 2 stages in one day but after hiking the first stage (6 hours from Trient to Champex and 700+ meters in altitude gained), we realized that finishing the next leg (stage 4) would get us into our final destination close to 8pm. With a storm on the horizon and a 1600+ meter climb tomorrow, we opted to catch a bus and then a train to Chable.

We found a nice, clean hotel, ate a hearty dinner, had a nightcap and called it a night.

Having a great time but looks like rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week.

Stage 2: Argentiere -> Col de Balme -> Trient

We had a strong 2nd day, leaving Argentiere and winding our way up the valley, past tourists taking cable cars and gondolas to climb almost 1000m and taking in some great views. The weather is holding up for us so far, it has been warm and dry. The forecast is changing over the coming days and we might see rain for some of the more challenging stages to come.

Food in Argentiere

Is not bad...probably because we are still in France! Nice little town too...

Stage 1: Chamonix -> Argentiere

We got off to a strong start, deciding to forgo the valley walk and replacing it with a ride to the ridge top and a more strenuous trek...we discovered that need to get some of our gear better dialed in, good project for tomorrow.
